Dr. Ronne Marantz is the author of The Dharma of Education: Where Western Knowledge Meets Eastern Wisdom. She earned her doctorate degree from Teachers College, Columbia University in the field of curriculum, teaching, and educational leadership. She is a former principal of Heathcote Elementary School in the award-winning Scarsdale School Union Free Schools District in Westchester County, NY. During her 35 years as a teacher, staff developer, administrator, and consultant (United Nations Habitat: Human Values in Health, Sanitation, and Water Education) she has integrated a philosophy of education for transformation into her professional practice and the dynamic of the learning environment. Starting her diverse career as a classroom teacher (K-8) in a residential treatment center, she went on to earn a Masters degree in Special Education and taught in resource centers in public schools for 13 years. She is a former faculty member of St. Josephs College on Long Island and has done staff development in the USA and countries around the world. Her spiritual practice and application of it to education has taken her to India, Nepal, China, Mexico, Australia, South Africa, Senegal, Gabon, Thailand, the United Kingdom, and Nepal. Dr. Marantz is currently a faculty member of Rising Hope, Inc. a project that offers on-site college level credit to inmates in the New York State Department of Corrections.
